DESCRIPTION

This class will overview a foundational theology and methodology of biblical counseling, in order to equip students with a basic understanding of what it means to counsel one another through the lens of Scripture. In the first half of the class, we will explore how biblical counseling views God and man, suffering and sin, sanctification and the counseling process. Then we will walk through a model of the biblical counseling process in the second half of the class, applying it to our own lives through a Personal Change Project. This will be an interactive class, with the expectation that students will not only participate in the class discussions, but will also work on their Personal Change Project outside of class time. Through engaging in this class, students will be better equipped for conversational ministry of the Word to one another in circumstances of suffering or in struggles with sin. This class will also serve as a prerequisite to further classes on biblical counseling.
