DESCRIPTION

This class will give students tools for reading, studying, and interpreting the Bible for personal devotion and for teaching in small groups. We will look at how to approach the various writing styles in the Old and New Testaments, learn how to discern the author's intent from a passage, and use our findings to put together a teaching on a specific passage. Students should be prepared to do some outside reading/work each week and be able to deliver a short teaching at the end of the quarter, in a supportive and encouraging learning environment. By the close of class, students should be more confident in their study of Scripture and experience God's transforming power through it.
